The First Frontier is the first release and concept album to come from Colonizing the Cosmos, a Pittsburgh-based indie/folk band. The album was recorded and written in a non-traditional fashion and features a wide variety of instrumentation including banjo, guitars, cello, leg slapping, hand clapping, dulcimers, paint brushes and everything in between. The album is already generating buzz around the Pittsburgh scene and is drawing comparisons to the music of Paul Simon, Sufjan Stevens, Bela Fleck, the Beatles and the Flaming Lips.
